The Critial Moment.
Posted at 10:48 PM

Walking up the ladder to board a plane.

Sitting down in a doctor's office.

Entering the hockey rink.

Parking the car.

Each action holds the promise of another, with each action taken, the possibility of another action happening at the same moment has diminished.  Our lives forever changed by changed by these small moments.

As I sat in the computer lab today, making my portfolio pages for grad school, I watched the minutes inch towards noon.  The awareness that I have class builds up, and my heart catches in my throat.  I have two choices right now.  Go to class, and leave my homework assignment incomplete for studio, or miss out on today's lecture in oceanography.

I pause in my work.   The computer clock in the corner of the screen changes another minute.

Leaving this room now would require a lenghty trip acoss campus, but sitting here would mark the 6th hour that I've sat at this same computer in the lab.  Choices, choices, choices...

It is exactly noon now, and I am running into overtime.  I can still go to class, arrive late, and sheepishly take a seat in the back of the room.

Instead, I shift in my seat, and continue working.
