Honey, I'm Home!

So I owe you all a really long blog post, but there's really no time at the moment for that now, so I'll add what I can in tomorrow :D

Complete and Utter Incompetence
Posted at 10:03 PM

Well, I come back from my month and a half vacation to find out that:
1. Colleen and CJ are married! (congrats!)
2. I got kicked out of my sheep tag clan in warcraft!!
3. My FAFSA (student financial aid) wasn't processed b/c it was missing a parent signature??
4. I got 50 emails from the architecture dept. telling me that I need to email them my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice studio class or else they're kicking me out of architecture
5. My current major is STILL officially noted as EE, and I won't become an *OFFICIAL* architecture student until SPRING 2005 (despite the fact that I had applied for a change of majors in the fall of 2003)
6. On the 'Student Status' page on oscar.gatech.edu, it tells me that I have no holds which prevent registration????

And finally
7. I really regret going to GA tech, and that if I had enough time on my hands, I would make my own GT SUX website: http://www.geocities.com/gtsux2002/
Read the physics page, I totally agree with the guy on that one.

Grandma's Stories
Posted at 11:23 AM

I was an evil little girl when I was a kid. But I won't say anything more on the matter. I'll tell it to you just like how my Grandma told it to me:
"Cindy, you look just like your ma now. You've got your ma's great shen-chai. Ah, but you were a troublesome one. Always looking for mischief you were. You were the only grandchild I had ever spanked. And I'm sorry whenever I think back on it now but you deserved it then, do you remember that?
"I spanked you once in my life, and it was because you were being cruel to the little boy next door. Poor darling, everyone knew Xia's son was the meekest, smallest, and weakest boy in the neighborhood, but you were especially mean to him.

"Did you ever wonder why that tall twig of a guy who lives downstairs has that scar on his head? That's Xia's son now.

"I was sorting out my things and watching you play outside. The very moment I turned my head, you made that little boy burst out in tears. Now, I didn't do anything right away to see just what you would do, but to my horror, you shook that boy so hard to make him stop crying you knocked him into the street!

"I took you over to the Xia's when they came back from work, and I apologized to them on your behalf, but anyone who looked at that cut on his head knew that the scars would be permanent.

"And he still has a scar right here," she said, gesturing to a spot above her right temple. "but I don't think you remember at all."

Change is Inevitably Constant
Posted at 10:50 AM

So we're all sitting around the table toasting our drinks to the last of Summer's warm and carefree days, giggling at sweet nothings, drunken with the heat of the atmosphere.

It's time for a change, whispers the back of my mind.

So we all get up, grab our purses and hats and shoes, and head for the door.

While old Autumn is left to clean up the shards.

Harry Potter Spoilers Review!
Posted at 02:23 PM

Since tabulas was down yesterday and my computer's hardrive was being reformatted, I blogged from Colin's blog (sobiius.blogspot.com) and wrote my little review and opinions on the movie.

Favorite quote of the weekend:

Colin's mom: I don't even know how you guys are going out.
Me: Yeah, I wonder that sometimes too.

Of Betta Fish and Finnage
Posted at 09:50 PM

Well, as some of you may know, I recently bought a brand new and *gorgeous* semi-crown tailed betta fish! I named him Califax after the nightelf Keeper of the Grove in Warcraft III! He's bluegreen with red fins and tail!

"Whatever happened to Melvin?" you might ask.

Well, before I left for China, I left Colin in charge of Melvin, the ugliest male betta splendens that won't die. A few weeks later, Melvin became integrated in the Webster Family Tank.

Now the species betta splendens, commonly known as the siamese fighting fish, is very territorial and aggressive... toward its own species.
Melvin got dumped in a tank with angelfish (which are carnivorous and very aggressive like pirhanas btw), a shark, an eel, and some other black striped fish - all of which are bigger than him.

Now when I came back from China and checked up on Melvin, I was shocked and horrified to discover:
Melvin had no tail.
Melvin had little to no fins anymore.
Melvin hides behind the water filter and thermometer to avoid the angelfish.
Melvin is a wimp!

So while I was shopping for another *prettier* betta fish, I came across a nifty little 2.5 gallon tank with a little divider/separater thing so you could keep 2 bettas in the same tank (despite the fact that I had my parents bring the 23-year-old antique glass fish bowl from my Grandma's house in China)!

Anyways, after setting up the tank and everything, I placed the little divider in, and put Califax on one side of the tank. 2 hours later, I noticed him happily swimming around on the other side of the tank. The next morning, he was back on his original side of the tank!

Apparently, those people at the All-Glass Aquarium Co. didn't design their stupid divider to fit the contours of their tank very well, so there's this huge gap between the curved part of the tank and the end divider where Califax can swim from one side to the next. But they sure do make the pictures look so nice, see for yourself.

So I decided to ditch the betta divider and just keep Califax by himself in the tank.

And I think I'll go buy another betta fish this weekend to put in my Grandma's antique bowl.
